Lifebook P1610 - compatible SSD type or upgrade option?

Postby wb0gaz » Wed Feb 12, 2020 18:41

I have a P1610 Lifebook since 2007, and now I am bringing it back to service, because it is very nice machine with great keyboard for small machine!

I wish to install SSD instead of the Toshiba MK8007GAH 80GB HDD.

I searched for 1.8" PATA SSD, but I can only find type with ZIF connector.

The MK8007GAH 1.8" PATA 80GB HDD uses a female pin connector MCD-D50 Series by DDK Connectors (per the PDF data sheet for MK8007GAH.)

The P1610 has a ribbon cable between main board and HDD, and the MCD-D50 series connector (male end) is on the end of the ribbon cable; the female end is on the PATA HDD.

Is there any option for me now in year 2020?

Here is PDF of MK8007GAH, you can see picture of female connector on end of existing PATA HDD.
