AH530 Webcam Turn On?

Postby frustrated dad » Mon Jan 09, 2012 15:30

Hello everyone, I bought mu son a Lifebook AH530 for Christmas.
It has a webcam installed, and is running Cyberlink Youcam software, pre-installed.

Whenever he opens the webcam, he gets a message that he needs to turn the webcam on first.

How does he do this? There is nothing in the manual, we have taken it back to Comet and they do not know.

There must be a shortcut somewhere to turn it on.

My apologies if this is a stupid question but my son is quite upset and this is my last resort.

Thanks

Thanks, but how do I activate the webcam in the Bios?

I thought you should stay away from Bios unless you knew what you were doing.....I dont!

Thanks

Having the same problem with no access to the webcam, however the BIOS in this AH530 is almost completely different.

The first two lines are the same:
Serial ATA
AHCI Configuration

then all different:
<blank line>
Multi Core
<blank line>
Wake Up on LAN
<blank line>
Fan Control

missing:
Bluetooth
LAN
Wireless LAN
WWAN
Internal Camera
SD Card

BIOS is 1.19, the latest version available.

What gives Fujitsu?

i dont think there ever was an option in bios for the cam. Its activated by the s.w
(usually called youcam) plus obviously the driver which should be listed in Device manager so check your drivers are installed by running Deskupdate from fujitsu web - http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Download
and webcam test tool here:
http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=2E8AF77C-4CA3-485A-A751-EB3B24E9775B&Info=FTS
after this if not working may be a hardware fault with the cam

Thanks sabrex,

The webcamtest.exe program did nothing at all.

I do think it is a hardware fault with this webcam in this particular machine.

What confuses me is that benziner who posted before me has that photograph of the same BIOS with different options including internal camera, but maybe it is not a photograph from the BIOS of an AH530. Strange that he refers to the manual and at least implied he was referring to the AH530, since that is the title of this thread.

On the other hand I have no bluetooth or SD card dispalyed either and they work fine.

Hi. I don't know if you could solve your problem, but sometimes it seems to be simpler than you think. If you say that there is no program that allows you to activate the camera (and I mean a program already installed on the computer, nothing that you have to install or codes that you have to use). Maybe you should try to check the control panel in the devices section. Maybe there is an option to activate your webcam or check if it is not the Firewall that is preventing it from activating automatically.
Let us know if any of these options works for you. Regards!
