[Li2727] Windows XP drivers

Postby amater » Sun May 25, 2008 22:56

Greetings to all Amilo users :)

This weekend I got my hands on a new Amilo Li2727. My friend bought it and since her budget was very limited she bought a version without operating system (with live Linux to be exact). Since she's only familiar with Windows XP she naturally wanted to use XP on her new notebook. She is also not very familiar with installing os & programs so she asked me if I could help her.

I first went on FSC's support paged to download the XP drivers. I quickly discovered that Vista is the only supported OS on this notebook, so I can't count on FSC for any help. Then i googled a little and surprisingly no solution could be found. So it was time for plan B :)

Plan B means I had to note down the components details and search for the drivers one by one (chipset, graphics, lan, wlan...). After that more googeling and quite soon I had some drivers that might work.

So time to make the installation. First thing was to sleepstream the SATA drivers to the XP installation CD (I've already written about this in this thread). And while I was at it I also integrated XP SP3 in the new installation CD.
XP installed normally, no errors during the installation. Then it was time to install the drivers. The device manager was missing the following drivers:
- Audio
- Graphics
- Touchpad
- wlan
- sm bus
- lan

So I went and installed the drivers that I found earlier. To my surprise the installation went quite smoothly and the devices were quickly installed :) The only exception were lan & wlan. To get the wlan going I had to find the FSC launch manager (couse you have to turn on the wlan via the Fn+F1 key). I decided to test the Vista version and it worked :) As for the lan, I discovered that if you manually install the driver it works.

Since this whole thing took quite some time I decided to post this here and also to share the drivers with you. Who knows, maybe someone will decide to upgrade from Vista to XP :)

If you need any help, give me a shout.

Hi dragos_d4d :)

You have the drivers download link in my first post. It's a rapidshare link, so it's not "direct" download. It opens a web page, where you select "free download option", then you usually have to wait a minute (until the countdown reaches 0) then you can download the file.

It's really quite simple, once you know how :)

looks like it is impossible for me to reach that rapidshare download...
the word check with cats attached is aufull...
then it tells me that I can't download the file because my browser hasn't some java scripts enabled...
Please ... can you provide some other way to download the archive...
or at least tell me the webpage where I can find the right audio and wlan driver...
I've installed wlan already with atheros ar5007eg driver and the launch manager but when I press FN + F1 keys I get a window with "wireless status optin" (bluetooth, WLAN and UMTS) but all the options are off and the ON options are grey!

Thank you in advance!

Yes I know that, rapidshare has it's "bugs" but it's free, so we shouldn't complain :)

Anyhow, I've attached the WLAN drivers here (hope it works). As for Audio the Audio driver I've downloaded it directly from Realtek (Mirror 1, Mirror 2)

But as I see there's a new version available already. I've tested the version 1.93, so I can guaranty that this one will work.

Edit: da**, the board will not let me upload the WLAN drivers. Drop me a PM with your email address and I'll email them 2 you.

Thank you... I finaly got it to work
audio up and running with version 1.95 from realtek site!
Atheros wlan got the drivers also (can't remember the site :( ) and got it running with the vista version of launch manager but only with one small detail! My bios version was 1.0.5 when i bought the laptop! Wlan simply would not work in xp with this bios revision...
Everything started working after the 1.0.7 bios version was installed!

anyway... is there a trick to make this launch manager application start automatically (run it as a service) with windows and enable wireless without having to enable it manually after every restart?

Hi guys, I think that we bought quite a nice computers for us. Thank you amater for taking time to share your problems and discovered solutions with other members of this forum. However, some stuff is not very clear for me. Can you tell me some more about using n-lite and making a bootable xp cd? I allready downloaded drivers you posted, but I never used n-lite before and I even don't know which version should be downloaded. Do I have to download anithing else except n-lite?
Pozdrav od Pedje

Hi manelcat!

For Li 2735 XP drivers please have a look at this post.

I've only tested my driver pack on LI2727.

Amater, do you have any recommendation for not-so-expensive pocket pc with WinCe 5.0 or higher? I see that you pretty much in this stuff and have no one to give me an good advice... If it is cheaper to order it from Slovenia or some other EU country, that shouldn't be a problem...
