[AMILO Li1718] Can i remove my notebook battery?

Postby matt-hall-08 » Sun Mar 02, 2008 22:20

Hello all,

Just a quick question here, I have an Amilo Li 1718, and was just wondering is it fine to remove the battery from it and run it using mains power only?

I used it for more than 4 hours at a time, so it makes sense to remove the battery, so I don't have to keep it at 100% fully charged, as I believe this can damage it.

Can anyone advise whether it is fine to remove the battery and use mains power only?

Thanks , help appreciated !

Matt

Anyone else?

Sorry my friend, but your first post has been very unhelpful.

Thanks for any other advice!

There is conflicting advice on this. My new notebook says it’s ok to, and in the past I've googled for this question and most say it’s ok to. But defiantly there are some which need the battery to complete the circuit. So depends on the make and model.

I did read that the battery works like a big capacitor, protecting the laptop if there is a power surge...How true it is I don’t know :?

bipster could be right for his make and model
