Pocket Loox N560 - Maximum SD capacity

Postby jjaz » Wed Jun 06, 2007 8:35

I heard a number of conflicting reports on the maximum size card the N560 can accept and read/write. Provided the card is SD compliant (not SDHC) can it be used in a N560 up to its full capacity - say 4Gb? or is the 2Gb capacity a restriction on Windows Mobile 5 no matter what size the card is?

I would like to purchase a larger card than 2Gb - even 2Gb once all GPS maps are loaded does not leave a whole lot of space for other data sources.

Many Thanks

I haven't yet been able to find a 4GB SD card that wasn't SDHC so I think you are stuck with 2GB as I don't think the N5xx series can handle SDHC.

I may be wrong but I remember Transcend produces a 4GB 150X (not SDHC) memory.

TakeMS, Dane-Elec, Medion, Transcend, Sandisk, Twinmos, PQI, Bestmedia, Adata,

They have all 4gb non SDHC cards.

I've just trawled the Sandisk web site and can find no non-SDHC 4GB cards. They seem to make it very clear that the larger cards, i.e. 4-8GB are only possible as a result of the new technical specification of SDHC. Can you give a specific link to a 4GB SD card? I'd certainly be glad to try and get hold of one.

Many Thanks for all your responses, but I'm still not sure - looking at all the suppliers websites (Transcend, Sandisk) I cannot find any mention of non-SDHC card greater than 2Gb.

If someone could supply a link to a suitable site with 4gb SD cards I will try and report back my findings.

Transcend TS4GSD150.
What do You need?
TS4GSDHC150 is the SDHC version. TS4GSD150 is the one You'll have to buy.
Use Google...

Here you go for the Transcend 4GB one http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct.aspx ... EE2A8AF251

However when I check the compatibility list the N5xx doesn't appear to work with the 4GB card.

I use the Transend 4Gb card in my N520. If you upgrade to MN6 (which I would recomend) you need 2 Gb for the maps. This card works perfectly and is fully recognised as a 4Gb card by the N520. This was after buying a SDHC card which is not even seen by the loox

Good to know this as my N520 was stolen yesterday and I plan to replace it with the N560 plus MN|6 of course so the 4GB option is good to have.

This one also works:

I've been using it in my N560 for almost a year now and it works perfectly.
