XP boot crash when connected to AC power

Postby karijo » Wed Dec 13, 2006 11:38

Hello,

I just bought an AMILO Xa1526. The shop installed two 1024 Mb memory modules (DANE-ELEC DDR2 533 Mhz) and there is no memory error when I test with memtest86. As soon as the notebook is connected to AC power, I'm unable to launch XP, I see the welcome screen and the beginning of the welcome sound and it hangs ! Sometimes, it hangs on the xp logo screen. If I power up on battery, I enter without any problem in XP but if I reconnect to the AC power, I'm sure to have a BSOD few minutes later... I suspect a power management software problem. Any ideas to help me ?

Have you tried to go into "safe mode" and turning off Windows power management? You may also look in BIOS for power management (ACPI) and try turning it off. To compare - when I try to turn off power management from BIOS in my desktop PC, Windows crashes...

Hi! Thanks for the advice. I posted my own answer to the problem on the english forum : it was a memory issue. I changed the memory modules and the problem is gone.
