My ridata with 4GB is now suddenly damaged. (Error message can´t read Sector...).
I can´t format it again.(PDA or Card-reader) Fortunately i have a backup from all the data. But the card ist now to repair/replacement.

The SDHC fix also works with WM5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388364
this should give you 8GB cards and rumours of a 16GB card in the N560

Hi all,

no rumors but reality!
My loox N560 works very stable and fine with a 16GB Transcend SDHC Card.
It has to be installed the SDHC drivers for sure!

No more troubles with to less working space :D

Hi, My N560 is still using 4GB sd card. I have been thinking wheather it would take higher storage card. Different users were discussing SD and SDHC cards in various forums. It is great 16GB SDHC, could be used. How the SDHC driver needs to be installed. N560's firmwire needs to be upgraded? I' ll appreciate to know how. regards. Tara

Hi Tara,

There are 2 issues to be considered when moving to SDHC Cards:

1. Limitations of the SDHC cards with certain applications
2. Installation

1. Limitations:
There is no official SFC upgrade for the use of SDHC cards in the Loox Series. The commonly used driver is by "GreateVK & FreePK"
This driver works well with all my 45 proggies. The only limitation is that some programs can fail after being suspended. (Navigon MN6, Destinator, Skype) The program freezes and a restart become necessary. I’m not sure whether this is due to a shortcoming of the driver or a general limitation of the SDHC standard.

2. Installation.
If you load the SDHC driver it will be installed into the memory of the device (not flashed to the ROM). You will lose this driver when resetting the loox. Your SDHC card will not be readable after a hard reset. Therefore you need to keep a small (standard) SD card with the installable SDHC Card Driver to prime the device after reset and make use of your SDHC card e.g. with backup files.

For someone with fair/good IT knowledge there is a better - but also somewhat riskier way. A Russian site offers free (experimental) software allowing flashing the ROM completely new. The WM6.0 version 038 that Newplowe created already comprises the SDHC driver – with the same limitation. Besides many other advantages with this version no Standard SD card has to be kept: The SDHC card is directly readable after a hard reset. But be warned, you can lose the PDA when doing something wrong while flashing, and of course the warranty will be void.

Hope this sheds some light... :)

Hi Dietrich, Many thanks for your information. I am not desperate for that big storage. To me it is hard and risky. Some application may get stuck. This PDA I use mostly for musics, Tomtom satnav and few datas. My PDA operates on WM v5.1.195. It has 4gb sd card. Parhaps 8gb sdhc would be enough if I could upgrade to WM v6. Again I am not sure upgrading WMv6 could help. May be it is more important to install driver for SDHC.

It is realy important to install your mentioned driver to use SDHC card.

Hi Tara,

I fully understand your hesitation to make an upgrade that may be helpful in one way but may also create new problems.

For you probably getting an additional 4GB SD card and swop the cards when needed might be the best solution.
This second SD card could be dedicated to a few memory space intensive applications. No risk, little cost, just the need to carry the second SD Card.

For an 8 or 16 GB SDHC card you doo need to install the driver and then the suspend mode may not work with TomTom (see above)

Dietrich
