Upgrading BIOS on Scenic L

Postby » Tue Jul 01, 2003 22:12

After installing a USB 2.0 hub, two of my peripherals won't work, they do when plugged into the USB ports in the back of my computer. The Hub manufacturer say that I need to upgrade my BIOS, and my manufacturer would be able to tell me how to do it, and have a patch available for download from their site ?? Hope someone can help.

Here's the answer:
http://217.115.66.53/ubb-files/Forum1/HTML/001994.html
This tells you how to find out the mainboard type and how to find the BIOS update. But I doubt that this is the problem...

Hmmm . . . looks complicated, if that is not the answer, I think I would rather find out the answer, rather than try to upgrade the BIOS . . . any ideas out there ?
Thanks
Chas
Perhaps ... tell what Peripherals, what hub, what OS...
Actually, if they work when connected directly then I'd definitely look for a problem with the hub.
Is it self powered (eg has an own power supply)?

The hub is a Sitecom 2.0 Hub, self powered. The peripherals are a Jornada 540 series PDA, and a Vivicam 20 digital camera. OS is Windows 5.1 (Build 2600)
Do you think I have bought a dodgy hub ? My Epson Stylus CX3200 works both direct to the computer AND through the hub? Wierd or what? ANY help would be great.
Chas

If you can try to return the hub and try a different brand. Perhaps something more "Brand", though *g*
USB2.0 is NOT trivial signal quality wise. If the hub is not USB 2.0 Certified (has it got the USB 2.0 Logo?) then this might be the problem...

Don't ever buy any USB 2.0 device without that if you want to be sure it's working.
