This article should help you to find all drivers, manuals, infos, etc. that you might need, or find out what mainboard type you have.
1. Drivers for FSC PCs
2. The FSC Software Pool Online
3. What Mainboard do I have?
4. In German: Produkt Assistent
===============================
1. Drivers for FSC PCs
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/support/downloads_1.html
Either do a full text search for your mainboard name, or enter your system serial number in the provided field. Alternatively select your PC type using the menu under "Product search"
You will get everything available for that PC, for example Drivers, BIOSes, Manuals, Recommended RAM, Recommended CPU, etc...
For FSC Consumer PCs (Scaleo, Amilo) these web pages might be helpful to you, too:
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/support/homepc/

Or the big, "universal" Driver package:
http://www3.fujitsu-siemens.com/service/homepc/scaleo.zip
and also
http://www.kyf.net/supportaz/index.php
It's german and is by a very helpful and dedicated FSC Support person. Especially lots of drivers for Windows XP are available there.
2. The FSC Software Pool Online
If you want to search for specific drivers, try the FSC Software pool. As far as I can tell all drivers, software, manuals etc. ever released by FSC can be downloaded there - even for very old Siemens and Siemens Nixdorf products.
http://www.fsc-pc.de/support/SoftwareAssist_e.asp
There you can either search for a specific key word (e.g. "d1289"), or use the categories menu at the left for navigation. These are the most useful menu items:
- Computers: Products > select
- Mainboards: Components > Motherboard > select
3. What Mainboard do I have?
There are several ways to get this info. I'll describe them all, starting with the easiest one. If this one does not help, try the next, and so on.
//Windows ME, 2000, XP//
Run the program "msinfo32". Select START > RUN > type "msinfo32", click OK. Select "system Overview" and there you'll see the mainboard model under "Systemmodel"
//For FSC Mainboards - BIOS//
Enter the BIOS using F2, and press F1 for info on the BIOS and Mainboard. In the first line you'll get the "BIOS Release". This is for example "Version 4.06 Rev. 1.09.1289". This would mean you have a Phoenix BIOS 4.06, BIOS Revision 1.09 for the Mainboard D1289. The last three or four numbers give the mainboard model. Add a "D" in front of the number and you have the FSC Mainboard Name.

//For FSC Mainboards - label//
On FSC Mainboards there is a label with the Mainboard Name and it's Revision. It is located near a edge of the mainboard, is white, and also has a barcode on it. It reads for example:
D1289-B11 GS1
Generally, it is constructed like this:
Daaaa - bcd GSe
Daaaa is the mainboard name, for example D1289
b gives the version of the mainboard. "A" would mean fully featured, "B" would mean less than full features (like LAN not populated), and "C" means something else.
c gives the mainboard variant. This number is increased when something functional changes on the mainboard, like a new IO Shield etc.
d gives the PCB (printed circuit board) revision. If the PCB is changed, the this number changes.
e gives the component placement revision. If any components on the board change (like other resistors, capacitors etc) then this number increases.
//For ANY Mainboard//
Run this programm
http://www.unicore.com/biosagent/ba.exe
it will give you lots of BIOS info, including the "BIOS ID String". With this ID it is possible to find the mainboard model and manufacturer. Either post all the info you get there here in the forum and ask for help, search on google for parts of the ID String, or look here
http://www.motherboards.org/articlesd/tech-planations/13_1.html
for more info on how to find out by yourself.
[This message has been edited by Treiberfuzzi (edited 09 November 2004).]
[This message has been edited by Treiberfuzzi (edited 09 November 2004).]
