SERIOUS PERFORMANCE PROBLEM Mx43x - Lagging Issue

I've contacted FS UK support over the last 2 days and was told to run my M4438G in safemode as it was likely to be a software problem not hardware.

After the laptop seized solid in safemode they told me to run the recovery CD-ROM. That found and fixed one error.

The laptop ran well last night but seized this afternoon whilst running AD Aware.

FS UK have just told me it is a software problem and that I should phone their premium rate (60 pence per minute) helpdesk to get advice on wiping and re-loading all my software.

Any views on this would be appreciated, I don't want to go to all that effort for nothing.

Regards

Ralph

@ralphs

don't bother, the UK FSC told me the same thing over two weeks ago.

i did the CHDDSK, and yes it found errors and corrected them. but the issue returned soon enough.

wiping your computer and starting a fresh is no good. read what other people have written. it's not software related.

FSC finally in the end told me to contact 2nd line support... and they told me in an email that it was the RAID controller.

FROM NOW ON CAN EVERYONE STATE IN THIS FORUM THE NAME AND COUNTRY OF THE FSC EMPLOYEE THAT THEY TALK TO ON THE PHONE OR BY EMAIL.
That way we can see, how many of them repeatly say that 'they have never heard of the problem'!

Nico Junghähnel
emailed me saying 'they know the problem but as of yet no solution'

2nd line support uk
emailed saying 'This is a known issue. Caused by the RIAD controller talking to the harddisk. This issue is being worked on for a solution. Information the solution is due shortly. I will update you on progress.'

K

PS. nice one on the petition...

Thanks Karl

I spoke to Alan at FSC UK today, Ian yesterday and Barry and Tariq on 6 Feb.

I mentioned the Forum comments about the MX43X issues today but Alan was adamant that mine was a software problem.

i have this FS laptop for about 9 days and the problems that botheres me is the bios that's blocking most of the times when i try to set in some way
to change the boot order or anything else ,i've updated the the nvidia first, then the bios then the motherboard driver,is there a order to make this updates ;the next boot after i update the bios it was fine i can navigate in bios settings, but now it block again
the "lagg issue" could include bios blocking as well ?

forum?

Postby lonboy » Fri Feb 10, 2006 0:03

It's funny, but I have been looking for the forum in the spanish fujtisu web and I can't find it, Am I a dummie or the problem is that it doesn't exist? I will search for it... By the way, when they told me they didn't know anything about the bug I sent them to this forum and other directions. I had to spell all words 'lagg issue' to the employee because, as I could notice, his english was even worse than mine. I'll send to FSC and Mediamarkt a notarial requirement or burofax if they don't give me a good solution in a few days.

Borkar, Thanks for the interest that you have taken yourself from the beginning.

By the way, I started this post in a spanish forum even before I knew I had the problem. (on january the 11th)

65 signatures after a few hours on this forum represents nearly 100000GBP.

That is a lot of money from real people who worked hard to earn the money or who will take years paying back loans. It is not right.

What can we do to prevent other people wasting their time, money and effort?

It is time to let the world know what is going on.
Here's a start...

Perhaps someone could list newspaper e-mails/websites?

Please keep on signing. We need a lot of signatures to gather the strenght to contact important associations like European Union Consumers Rights Association, and others. PC magazines will also only look at it and consider it if we get a look of signatures !
Please post a real name and not a nickname. I made the SERIAL NUMBER as a required field to let them know that are REAL buyers protesting, and not just anyone.

I got a reply from the Finnish FSC support. They said that this matter is being handled on the top priority but the ball is in Uniwill's court at the moment.

Strength in numbers IS important for people who have bought Amilo laptops/ notebooks -- pressure is needed to find a satisfactory solution. This is a big problem, and it seems to involve a lot of countries (interesting legal situation).

However, it doesn't take a massive number of people to start a buzz in the media -- the newspapers, local radio stations, web sites, forums etc.

People are walking into shops today and buying these products without having a clue about the problem they are getting themselves into.

Other people have bought Amilo models and don't know yet about the problem, or think it is something they've done, or they're dealing with their local retailer and being told rubbish.

IT IS THESE PEOPLE -- PEOPLE WHO DON'T DO FORUMS -- WE NEED TO REACH -- and fast!
