error when NT partition is more than 4GB

Postby » Mon Mar 03, 2003 4:08

i want to install NT on my primergy server (R450 and H450) and i want it to be installed on a partition which is greater than the recommended 4GB. But when doing so with serverstart, I am getting this "invalid path/invalid partition" error. I have done this on my compaq using smartstart and also with my HP servers. Is the serverstart not capable of doing this set-up???

Try formatting with NTFS instead of FAT.
See here, for example: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinNT/Q_20029567.html
If you already use NTFS ... then I don't know.

I have tried it with serverstart 4.28 and it allowed me to enter the value of 10000MB. Upon restart, error appeared again. i didnt use global flash partition for above. I have successfully installed it by the way using a very strange process. can anybody tell me how to use the serverstart for this. Makers of the serverstart, how come smartstart of compaq allow this one and serverstart dont?
