Primergy 470 - how to boot up without Chipcard?

Postby stevenj » Tue Sep 24, 2002 13:41

Hi, I just picked up a cheap server at a computer auction in Sydney without the Chipcard. Can anybody advise what I have to do to boot it up? I guess that disconnecting the Chipcard reader from the system board will not achieve much without resetting BIOS. How do I go about it? Any advice will be much appreciated.

So the SystemLock is on and requires a chipcard?
The only way to get around that is to aquire a BIOS Update Boot Disk for your mainboard from
http://www.fsc-pc.de/support/softwareassist_e.asp
and then do a BIOS recovery.
How to do that is described here:
http://vilpublic.fujitsu-siemens.com/public/vil/pc/vil/whitepaper/mainboards/wp_recovery_bios_en.pdf

Juggernaut, I have been struggling with flashing BIOS without success. I cannot get acces to the .pdf file you directed me to as I do not have username and password to enter
"vilpublic.fujitsu-siemens.com" site.
Could you e-mail me the .pfd file to info@startrade.org. Many thanks.
The flashing proces stops at error 9Ch/9Dh and Phoenix data shows this as "Initialize Security engine". Is is possible that the BIOS is locked internally to prevent flashing? Manual Siemens/Fujitsu (document A26361-D1031-Z120-10-7419, page 8 English) for my System board D1031 states:
"Switch 3 enables and disables system Flash BIOS updating. Before an update of the system BIOS can be carried out, switch 1 must be set to OFF and write protection for the system BIOS must also be disabled in the BIOS setup (in the Security menu; the Flash Write field must be set to Enabled) ......".
Can I get somewhere a new BIOS chip? Thanks for your help.

There is a password needed? This is from a publicly accessible site, I at least can access it... hmmm...
Go to
http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/rl/peripherals/mainboards/d1547.html#
click on "mainboard features" and then click on "Recovery BIOS". Then click "Download Product Fact". This should get you the Description.
