Postby Eunhon » Mon Apr 01, 2019 10:42

Hi everyone. I have the notebook E734 and was wondering if I would beable to upgrade the processor to a quad-core i5 or i7? Would the laptop take gen 5 cpus with a bios update? Thank you all!

Not quite sure if this helps, I did exactly that with an E754, upgraded to i7-quad-core, and 16 GB RAM, works like a charm. No BIOS-Update needed.

The processor isn't soldered onto the board .. right?

Look up the data sheet on google (try and find the latest), and check if there is only one processor listed or several. If there are several, it is quite a good indicator that the CPU sits in a socket.

In the E754 it comes in a socket, not soldered. This may be different in the E734.
