Upgrading LH532 / i5-3210M CPU@ 2,50GHz

Postby IAAI » Wed Jan 16, 2019 9:24

I am seeking suggestions and Clarifications on ALL possible upgrades on my LIFEBOOK LH532 with i5-3210M CPU@ 2,50GHz/ 8GB DDR3,1600MHz,RAM and OE Seagate Momentus 500GB HDD running on 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Some clarifications I seek are:
(1) Is the CPU is replaceable on the same MotherBoard - what better CPU options are available that the Motherboard can accomodate?
(2) What is the incremental performance increase one can expect by increasing the present 8GB to 16GB (2 x 8GB DDR3,1600Mhz,PC3-12800S-11-11-F3 modules) RAM.
(3) What SSD's in Seagate/WD can replace the present Momentus Mobile SATA Seagate 500GB HDD ?
(4) What other Hardware or Software upgrades are possible or suggestions please ? Thankyou for you time

I have the same laptop and I wouldn't bother trying to update the CPU. It's an old laptop so very unlikely any of today's cpu's will fit the onboard socket; and then you have the problem of compatibility with other components.

You ask about SSD's - I fitted a Samsung 860 EVO 500Gb some time ago and it works fine. Avoid Western Digital.

Another enhancement I made was to install a faster USB Network adapter - it only cost about £12UK.

Your best option I think is to look at replacing the laptop, not individual components.

I hope this helps.

Appreciate your response @BigRedSwitch.
Will the firmware of the LH532 support PC3L (DDR3L) in place of original PC3/DDR3 (1,65V) RAM modules sans any performance degradation ?

Sorry, but I may have misled you. I've just noticed that you have an LH532 whereas I have an AH532 with the same cpu. I know nothing about the LH532.

Can anyone clarify whether the LH532 DDR3 firmware support higher DDR3 RAM Specs such as :

DDR3-1866Mhz/ PC3-14900

I have a question if you are still using this product now?
