LIFEBOOK AH531

Postby ath_gr » Fri Oct 28, 2016 17:17

Hello,
I have a LIFEBOOK AH531 which seems to have some problems with the graphic card.
It happens when i connect wide monitors from 22 inches and onwards.
What do i do ? All usb to hdmi adapters play on windows or mac not linux.
Thank you

Hi,
Could you describe the problem more in detail?
What's the monitor resolution?
Which cable are you using?
What's shown on the display?

Hello,

It happens with any monitor, especially with an old vga. Normally i use an hdmi led wide monitor. The colors seem to shake and sometimes tiny bars are shown on white or bright colors. Well it can be seen, when you look on the monitor from small distance.

Thank you

ath_gr your initial post is nearly two years old and you probably have a new laptop anyway. Maybe this will help others, though:

I have an AH531 connected via HDMI to an external Iiyama XB3070WQS (30"), on a 2560x1600 resolution.

My current OS is Linux Mint 18.3. There are no additional drivers necessary that I am aware of, the only slightly tricky thing is the configuration via RandR.

yes, I have a new linux system

my lifebook lasted pretty good if you consider the fact that,
it flew with airplane up and down europe 30 times already

try installing an SSD and will still work good

What's your new system?
My AH531 is running on a 256GB SSD and 16GB RAM, on Linux Mint 18.3. and I replaced the DVD drive for a 1TB HDD.
It's a real work horse.
Now I am trying to figure out if it's possible to replace its original display by a 1920x1080 display.
Just for kicks.

Always Ubuntu the last 12+ years
till a new worth it Linux system comes up

now i have a desktop tower
AMD A10 7700K
SSD 512
RAM 16

and i am thinking to switch again on a notebook with an
Intel core i7 or AMD equal
SSD 1 TB
RAM 32

but what actually matters is the Operating System
and nothing else

even if you put the best hardware on Windows,
it will always be slow...
