LIFEBOOK E554

Postby raunop » Wed Jan 28, 2015 22:18

Hi,

I got this nice baby few weeks ago and now I'm tired of Windows 8.1...
So I installed Kubuntu 14.10 aside to Windows. W8.1 still works OK, Kubuntu boots and works otherwise OK, but:

- keyboard is working at first for few minutes after boot, then it stops taking keypresses OR it takes presses with 2-5 second lag OR it starts repeating whatever was pressed last
time about 30 chars/s. And most nice thing is that it randomly rotates with these options. You can not know what next keypress will do. It's fun to try vim something!
- Touchpad doesn't work at all. This is not a problem as I have nice Logitech darkfield mouse around. Would be nice if it worked for backup purpouse.

Tested also with opensuse 13.2 amd64, lastest Fedora amd64 and few other older distros, all these work alike. First keyboard seems to work, then it starts "missing" keypresses, then it either lags or starts repeating last keypress, all these in random surprise order.

Is this driver problem or what? The biggest reason I bought this one was that it had mostly Intel stuff inside so I know that it will work with Linux.... NOT.
Also we have lot's of Fujitsu servers running Ubuntu, so I thought Fujitsu laptops would work as well (Fujitsu=linux friendly company). First time ever in 15 years when Linux doesn't know how to work with keyboard.

Any help / suggestions / driver updates / workarounds available?

Best regards,
Rauno

Do i understand right, the keyboard does not work with Linux, in Windows there are no problems?

Yes, that's correct.

Factory installed W7, ok, upgraded to W8.1, ok, installed Kubuntu 14.10 amd64 beside Windows.

All tested linux distros works otherwise OK, but keyboard goes haywire within 2-3 minutes after boot...
Also the fact that touchpad doesn't work at all in linux.

Hi,

and thanks for the reply. However my problem never was the touchpad, but the keyboard.
Anyway, 3.19.x kernel did fix that too.

Case closed :)
