sas unconfigured bad

Postby babek » Tue Nov 18, 2014 11:46

Hi. Primergy RX200 S5 server. On the server there are 8 sas hdd with 900 gb each one. But one of them is blinking with red colour and therefore server do not recognize the hdd. I myself several times removeed the hdd from the server and put back again but carefully. Now after that it begun blinking. I replace the hdd with other disks on that server but the disk is blinking in every slot of the server.

Can you tell me what can happen with the disk. How can i fix it or maybe the disk is damaged by itself.

The red light is an ERROR light.

This means the disk has an ERROR.

It does not mean if you unplug it and re-plug it .. no matter how carefully .. it will NOT suddenly fix itself.

It has an ERROR

Moving it to another slot does not mean it will fix itself. It has an ERROR

unconfigured bad is another clue. Bad is another word for ERROR

i understood. So you mean the disk will suddenly fix itself. But when? The time is not definit. It is better to replace with new hdd. How do you think?

I'm sorry I missed a word out of my reply. I have changed it now. The disk will NOT fix itself it has an error

The disk should be replaced
