[V5515] BIOS update

Postby hoffi_fs » Mon Dec 27, 2010 19:09

Hello forum,

I'm trying to update my BIOS on an ESPRIMO mobile v5515 with BIOS version 1.10. Unfortunately, the Phlash software says that the version installed (the old BIOS) is not compatible with the new BIOS (on CD). I've tried several attempts: update via WinPhlash or via bootable CD, all available on Fujitsu homepage. I've also tried older BIOS versions. Similar results, however other error message(s). I've used the Fujitsu serial number checker to get the proper BIOS.

Background of the story is that I want to put in an additional 2 GB memory bar, but the machine stays dead (black screen and no memory check) after installation of that brick (I've put it in alone, with the old 512 MB memory or on different positions). The memory seller told me it might be a good idea to update the BIOS (now version 1.02), because it might not know 2 GB memory yet. Operation system is Windows Vista.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

HI,

please check in the BIOS

Security -> Flash Write = Enabled

Maybe Flash Write is Disabled, and you cant change that setting, then you must set the supervisor password and you can turn the Flash Write.

Recommend: After the successfully BIOS-Update reset the supervisor-password ;-) Because few years late maybe you cant remember that ;-)

Hi,

thanks for the reply, but there is no such password. :(

All available passwords are clear ...

Cheers,

Hi,

yes, its right. The password is clear. But for change Security -> Flash Write = Enabled, you must set a password.

After setting password, you can change the setting at BIOS -> Security -> Flash Write = Enabled

After the change "Flash Write", you are able to do a BIOS-Update.

And after successfully update clear the supervisor password.

Hello!

I got a new 2 GB RAM and it worked without BIOS updating. The first one was not ok.

Thanks a lot!
