Li 2727 RAM Problem

Postby elduder » Thu Feb 18, 2010 10:49

I wonder if somebody could help?

I have the Amilo l12727 with 1gb RAM pre-installed.
I purchased another 1gb RAM card (with the exact same spec as the first) and installed it as per the manual.

Here's the problem: The notebook will not boot with both RAM cards installed.
It will boot with either of the cards installed in the bottom slot, but the top slot does not seem to work.

Does the top slot need to be turned on in any way, as it appears to be dead?

Thanks for your help.

Are both seen in the BIOS?
Use anti virus, backup your data, use google.
POST BACK EVEN IF THE HELP DOESN'T HELP.

A Thank You would be nice if I have helped.

The computer won't even get as far as the BIOS when both cards are installed.
I can power it up, but before it begins to boot up it just hangs on a blank screen as though dead.

It's as though if something is plugged into the top RAM slot it disables boot up.

To update the situation:

I have flashed the BIOS with the latest version but it has no affect on the problem.

With both RAM cards installed (or just one card installed in the top slot) the computer will power up and then you hear a slight popping sound and nothing happens. The screen remains off and you cannot enter the BIOS.

The computer boots normally with only one card installed in the bottom slot.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

I have now tried 2 new identical 1gb cards in both slots and the computer will boot up, but only 1gb of RAM is recognized. There are no settings in the BIOS to change it.

Any ideas?

OK, thanks anyway.

Does anybody else have any suggestions?
