[solved]Amilo A1667g and windows vista/seven

Postby Otoro » Fri Oct 02, 2009 15:44

Hello,
Computer: Amilo A1667G
On Windows Seven (and Vista) the processor is throttled to 800Mhz (Mobility Amd 64 3400 +, 2,2Ghz).
In the first post (Important! AMILO A1667 / 3667 and Windows Vista SP1, 2008) stated that there will be a new BIOS version.
When will there be a new driver or a new BIOS? This computer is powerful enough for these two OS.
Best regards

ps : I am very bad in english (Google translation) sorry

Due to an incompatible BIOS (VER. 1.07 by uniwill for the P50CA notebook) the frequency of the processor won't break the 800MHz-Mark.

BIOS Ver. 1.07 should work with Win Vista SP1 as well.

Is there the possibillity that there's going to be an even newer release?

The Amilo A1667G which I am using is able to host windows vista and 7 as well!

I run A1667g (mobile athlon) with Vista, and its not throttled. But cant update to SP1.

Would like to know if anyone can get SP1 installed, or 7.

I myself waiting a move from Jujitsu regarding Bios update for mentioned Laptop,to be able to run the newest OS with SP1/2 but it seams that they are too busy to think about these older laptops. Tried to instal Vista SP1 but did not work.

There is a new bios for motherboard P50CA (amilo A1667G and A3667G) are solving the problem of installation of vista sp1. Version 1.07 and available from the manufacturer.
I have not tried, and this version does not solve the problem frequencies (athlon and turion).

Solution found! :D
For those interested:
To no longer be constrained CPU frequency on windows Vista and Seven with the Athlon 64 or Turion
> In: x:\windows\system32\Driver\ (x is the letter of the hard drive where is located your operating system)
> Delete the file amdK8.sys with administrator rights
> Retrieve the same file amdK8.sys recovered on windows xp
> put it in x:\windows\system32\Driver\
> restart
> If the trick worked you will have :!: (triangular) in Device Manager on the processor
> now download RightMark CPU Clock Utility and use it to adjust frequency and voltage to your CPU needs.

This trick works perfectly on my Amilo A1667G with the Athlon 64 3400+ and Windows Seven.
One thing to say : farewell winXP!

Hey guys,

I'm gonna upgrade the laptop of my girlfriend in the next days. It's an upgrade from Win XP to Win 7 Pro. My girlfriend has a Amilo 1667G. The CPU is a Turion - ML-32 as far as I can remember. Not able to check it at the moment... I'm very confident that the upgrade to 7 will work due to all your nice hints and explanations for BIOS-Update and AMD drivers.

But just one question. Maybe several guys can give a short statement. Rather Turion users, but Athlons are also allowed :)

How is the system performance at Windows 7?
Is everything running properly and smoothly? Better than on XP or even Vista? I'm talking about the spped for using basic applications (single as well as multi-tasking). I don't care of games. Just normal programs like Outlook, Office, IE, ICQ, Skype Adobe Reader and so on... How is it going compared to XP? Equal - worse - better?!?

Thank u in advance, guys :)
Would be nice if u leave a short comment within ur post saying which processor ur 1667G has and to which former OS u r comparing the speed.

Regards

Hi backbeat,
Windows 7 works perfectly on my Amilo A1667G, I turn over the last 4 months and I had no problem. I tried Vista on its release and I can say it has nothing to do. The same performance as xp (and sometimes more) and a significantly improved vista.
I use this computer for both games (not the last) for the office automation software (Office 2007, adobe reader, msn, skype...) and everything runs perfectly. One thing is certain, I will not go back to XP
After seeing yours, you can find much information on the Net.

Hi all,

It is a old thread but just a quick question for all who have amilo 1667g( do not make a new thread). Its a old laptop and i want to install Win_7 on it.
I did a bios update to 1.07 using Amiflash 4.33. When opened the utility and browsed the 1.07 bios, the default setting was marked as "Main Bios image", all the other option were left unmarked, as i did. Should i checked all options/blocks and cmos options too?
I did only the main bios, restarted it and went in bios noticed 1.07 and ec, i think 1.06....that's it or i have to redo it again to check all options?
The bios is changed, there are not so many option in it, maybe because i did not checked all the options!
Any help much appreciated.
