[XI3650] Multimedia Touch keys spook!!!

Postby latruwski » Wed Apr 29, 2009 15:20

Ok i am sure most of you know the touch keys for multimedia on the top of the keyboard of the XI3650...
if you don't know what i mean.. these are they keys (circled with yellow):
Image

Mainly the volume-control buttons are the ones acting weird (but the stop and "next song" button too!)
Here is what happens:
All the sudden on random occasions the keys start to raise and lower the volume on their own... (i actually see the buttons flashing) and then i touch the buttons myself and they freeze.. i can hardly use them to raise/lower volume...as i am touching them the "stop" button turns completely black and then i need to press that and after that the "next" button turns black and i need to touch that. After that the buttons work normal again for a while but all the sudden the same thing happens again...
When the volume control buttons spook and i am busy programming or in some kind of text-editor they also automatically type the letters "c" and "b" Here is an example of typing only with volume-control buttons and the "stop" and "next" buttons:
bbbcccbbbcccccccbbcccccbccbcbcpccbbccbbbbcpcpbccbbbbjpccjpbcbpcc

i notice now that not only the letters B and C are typed but also P and J lol :? (probably the stop and next buttons make the J and P, cuz when i only use volume control only "b" and "c" appears)

Now first reactions would be: virus or something... then i say no... I did complete system scans with multiple virus scanners that are up to date and also registry checks and defragmentation.

My question is: does anyone know how to fix this problem? (also how to turn the multimedia touch-keys off, as an alternative solution)

Regards,
Roderik

Yes, i had the same problem.

Probably you have extra printed letters on your keyboard for your language like Slovan (ščć) or German letters.

My keyboard was changed on service and since then there are no problems.

The guy in service said that when they print that extra letters they have to put out the keyboard and than when they put it in problems may appear.

Hi all,

we regret the problems with the Multimedia Touch Bar.

To verify the Problem we need additional information about the used systems.

- BIOS Version and Version KBC? After PowerOn please press F2
- connected devices like mouses or printers?
- some software running if problem occur?
- Problem occur also after factory recovery (without personal installations and devices)?
- how we can reproduce this issue (with our system there is no problem, also for long time test)?

thanks in advance

Best regards

Hi Roderik,

a lot of people experience the same problem - including me. There is a long thread on the German FTS forums. For us Germans they did not come up with a solution yet. So could you keep us updated about if and how your problem was resolved? Did you bring it in? If so, what did they do?

Your help is very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey, i called the support line... and after some testing of configs and such they did not know how that is possible... The guy on the phone told me he would hand it over to engineers and let me know...
So i hope i get an answer soon :)

Hi Roderik,

it is correct that we forwarded the problems you told us to the engineers.
To get a fast and significant response we and the engineers need some additional information how asked some posts before.

I'm not Roderik, but as I have the same problem here is my response:

- most recent BIOS 1.0G-1646-0024
- same problem after factory reset
- no external devices connected
- problem occurs with any random program running (iTunes, WMP, flash, etc.)
- problem also occurs when NO additional program running (only Windows Vista)
- problem occurs randomly and is not reproducible

Cheers,
Chris

hi, same problem here on Amilo Xi3670.
Its not Vista only problem, right now I am running openSUSE 11.2 milestone 7 and volume control buttons are blinking and the keybord is behaving oddly(like on Vista) and sometimes even during boot are volume control buttons blinking.
My BIOS version is 1.0E-1646-0025, i have connected only Logitech MX Revolution USB Mouse

btw is it possible to disable the multimedia bar? i dont use it except graphic card button, though.

I had the same problem. I contacted Fujitsu tech support and they told me I have to send the notebook to maintenance. I did and they returned it 24 h later fixed. The problem was that the multimedia bar was not properly attached.
