Hi peaky,

To stop the fan ticking you need to update to BIOS version 1.0G from the FTS web site.

the fan works good cpu temps very low idle`s at 33 degrees using intel graphics then switch to geforce 9600m gt and it puts the cpu temp up to around 40 degrees gpu sits idle at 57 degrees . But during games this thing goes mad playing farcry 1 in 1920x1080 gpu goes up to 97 degrees, cpu at 69 degrees. Can`t be good for it . The cooling system is rubbish they should never have put the gpu under the same heatsink as the cpu and the only thing that triggers the fan speed up is the cpu. Very bad design don`t want to play anymore games on it cos its not safe in my opinion.

Try undervolting the CPU, it helped me a lot. in WoW, GPU core temp maxed at 79 degrees celsius, CPU cores maxed at 71. Google "undervolting", first hit should be the guide you are looking for.

Oh, and the fan max speeding and needing reboot.. I installed V2.8(?) of the power management application and it hasn't done it since.

Hello, I have got same problem.
What do you mean by power manager? Do you mean vista manager?

I can write following about my problem:

I have my Xi3650 for 2 months and had same overheating problem with old BIOS before.
Since updating to BIOS-Version “G” my fan goes crazy when I start my computer first time. It does happen normally in the first 5 minute of using my PC. In this case I normally use my PC without strong needed performance. (Internet-explorer only and 40-50 system processes in the background what my task manager shows).

The fan hangs on full speed and I go crazy too because of loudness. By switching to “energy-safe-modus” the fan slows down and by releasing of power safe it’s a 50% chance that I can go on working without any further annoyance.
If it doesn’t work I have to restart the PC and can go on working the full day without hanging fan. I think it has something to do with cold start because it does happen always in the beginning with a cold PC.

I have had a ticking problem on my xi3650 and updated bios to 1.0G. Now a have fan speed problem after cold start.
Called Fujitsu support - they're thinking that it is hardware problem, but I don't belief them. My understanding that it is incorrect bios settings and another upgrade will solve this problem, but there is no bios update available so far and I really willing to bring this notebook back to Fujitsu.

I notice the time lapse between your original past and now. There do not appear to be any answers posted. If there are please advise where I can find them.
You see, I have also noticed the fan speed modulating in my Scaleo P. It always ran fast when the machine started up but would throttle back to a near silent rotation when fully booted, where it remained virtually silent.
However, after nearly 4 yrs, I had to re-build my broken Windows system from scratch. The "recovery" discs that came with the machine turned out to be for Windows XP Pro and not the original loaded at factory XP Home edition, but I used them anyway and since then my fan speed has modulated with the system load.
Now I had noticed that the CPU core temperature and two fan speeds are recorded in the BIOS. Could it be that there is a facility, whether implemented or not, that can regulate the cooling in sympathy with the CPU core temperature? Further to that is this so called idea of "over-clocking" the CPU to make it run faster. Could that have a further bearing on the core temperature? Does XP Pro do that in its implementation?
I would be very interested to know if anyone out there can throw some more light on this issue.

Hello all!I am new to the forum! I have the Amilo Xi 3650-SD5...I haven't noticed such problems so far...When I play games like Crysis at 1680x945 the core temperature is around 71-72 Celsius...However, I have a Thermaltake Cooler below the laptop...How can I measure the GPU temp?I have tried Riva tuner and nothing happened...Can you suggest me any program for this? Moreover, where can I see what bios version do I have...Thanks a lot...

Speedfan can measure the temps when your using the Nvidia GPU you say your core temps are in the 70's I think that will be the GPU as my 9600gt run at that while gaming the intel CPU runs in the 50's while running a game, and you can check the bios version when the notebook boots up I think by pressing F2 to access the bios

One thing I noticed in some older games like Civilization 4 and HOMM5 is, you really don't want to use anti-aliasing. Even if it seems like the performance is ok with 2-4x anti-aliasing, using it causes insane heat build up and the computer shuts itself down from overheating in like 20 minutes. Could be a personal issue, but you guys should try disabling AA if your GPU is overheating.
