[v5535] RAM Upgrade Question

Postby DizerX » Sun Jan 04, 2009 17:41

My Esprimo v5535 has 1 GB Ram installed in one slot, i don't know it's bus speed.

What are my options now to increase the RAM?? For example can i install a 2GB in the other slot with this 1 GB to have a total of 3 GBs?? or does the old multiplication rule still applies meaning that i should install 1 GB + the old 1GB to have 2 GBs?

Plus what is the bus speed of the RAM which comes with the laptop?? and is there different types of Notebook's RAM?

I have seen Kingston Notebook RAM 800 Mhz (1GB & 2GBs) at a very good price, will they work with the old RAM already installed (which might be different in bus speed)??

Thanks alot

Mine had 512MB RAM at 667MHz

I installed 1 GB more in the other slot so I have 1,5 GB and runs very fast.

The maximum RAM for mine (Esprimo 5535) is 2GB.

I think you must check what the maximum RAM of yours is because maybe it's a newer version, I don't know.

Mine supports upto 4GBs of RAM, my question is if i install another RAM which has a different bus speed (800), will it work with the old slower one??

Go to Crucial.com and do a system scan, any memory bought from them is guaranteed to work with your system, my esprimo mobile 5505 takes up to 4gb when scanned by them.

not true.

upgrading the ram has nothing to do with voiding your warranty.

just make sure that all you remove is the back panel for the ram.

Guys,
Does it support 800Mhz or higher RAM?
Does it support DDR3 or only DDR2?

Faster modules have no problems running at lower speeds. What the laptop "supports" is not relevant in this regard.
Does it support DDR3 or only DDR2?

Those are different technologies and, if I'm not mistaken, physically incompatible. See datasheet or CPU-Z to check which you're using now and choose the same type when buying new ones.
