NIC's dead after re-installing vista

Postby alansuz » Fri Aug 15, 2008 18:22

Hello,
Help! I have just re-installed Vista onto my Esprimo Mobile. The network interface cards are inactive and vista does not know the make, model, version etc and I cannot therefore load the drivers. Does anyone know what's happened please? Thanks. Alan

Hello. It's a V5515. Do you have any ideas as to bring them to life? Thanks. Alan

thanks for the suggestion. Yes I've downloaded the driver.

The nic, when you use device manager, shows:

under general - no manufacturer info
under driver - Driver Provider Unknown

In short, the operating system doesn't appear have enough information to select the driver I've downloaded.

If I could force the operating system to load the driver that I specify, perhaps there would be progress. I cannot find a way of telling the operating system the directory AND exact filename for the driver. The OS seems only to be able to accept a directory name!

Any further suggestions appreciated. Thanks. Alan
