Motherboard upgrade in AMILO A3667G

Postby RuiONE360 » Thu Feb 11, 2021 12:02

Hello.

I have this Amilo model (A3667G) wich was from my grandfather, he offered it to me yesterday.
I was planning to change it into a more modern laptop, where I could play some games. Not heavy ones, but games from childhood.

The thing is, that laptop is very old. I was planning to change the motherboard into a more recent one, with 8 gigs of RAM and an Intel cpu.

Is it possible?
I would be glad for an answer.

Hi!

Serial number is "YSAMO 14224" (without the quotation marks).

Hello!

This S/N does not match with any we have in our database.
Can you share a SystemScan?

Thank you,

Strange...
Your own Warranty database on support.ts.fujitsu.com shows this device with a service start on June 29, 2006, and an end of product support in 2009...
Of course, you need to type the "O" as zero, and omit the blank space. Sigh!

BTW, to the original poster:
I, personally, consider it senseless to try to find a motherboard upgrade for a consumer notebook which is about 15 years old now, simply for housing constraints. Sorry...

Oh...

In that case, idk what to do. I always worked with personal compters, sometimes with laptops.
I thought by giving this laptop (the Amilo A3667G) a new life would be good.

Is there anything else I can do to renew this laptop?

@me@work: thank you for spotting the o/0!

@RuiONE360:
Unfortunately for a system as old as this one, there is not much room for renewing, as mentioned before by @me@work. Upgrading the motherboard might be a hindrance due to the housing.
However, the RAM and CPU could be upgraded. Take into account that the MB supports up to 2048-MB of SDRAM.
As for the CPU possible direct upgrades for the installed one (according to the database)could be the following:

Turion 64 ML-40 2.2 GHz 1MB (cache) 35W
Turion 64 ML-42 2.4 GHz 512KB 35W
Turion 64 ML-44 2.4 GHz 1MB 35W
Turion 64 MT-28 1.6 GHz 512KB 25W
Turion 64 MT-40 2.2 GHz 1MB 25W
