BIOS battery exchange

Postby larslundahl » Tue Apr 02, 2013 9:32

Hi,
My Amilo Pi 3560 looses date and time, which need to be manually updated each time when starting the computor, before entering Windows 7.
So I was informed that the BIOS battery needs to be exchanged, and I have located the battery.

Questions:
1. Can I easily replace the battery myself? How? There are two small cables attached to it. Any soldering needed?
2. I read that people sometimes get problems with BIOS passwords after having replaced the battery. How to avoid this problem? How to know which is the password (if any)?

Would be grateful for any advice. /Lars

The part numbers you require are 34033812 / QUT:AHL03001416 search google = QUT:AHL03001416 should be fruitfull.

not heard of any password problem make sure you dissapate the unit by removing battery and mains and holding power button for 20 seconds then replace cmos should elliminate any chance of that password thing you mention. No soldering!

I'm having the same issue as you previously had, did you buy a new cmos battery? Where did you get it from?

Yes I bought a new battery and replaced the old one. I just browsed to find it but don't remember the name of the company.
