H270 and DVI/HDMI power

Postby BengtSeb » Mon Feb 25, 2013 11:21

Previously I have used a VGA cable to connect the laptop H270 to a TV to look at pictures and film from DVD as well as via WiFi TV from Play. I have now changed to DVI-HDMI cable and a paralell sound cable. Suddenly the H270 cannot handle the 40" flats screen TV for HD. It can handle a 22" HD TV. I managed, after closing all other programs, to look at digital photos but when I turned on the DVD film the H270 stop probably due to overloading.

The DVI/HDMI is 5 m long.

Question
Will an amplifier in the cable help so that I can use the H270 for the 40" TV?

Regards Bengt

A further investigation with different devices has shown that the cable is the problem. With a new cable, high speed HDMI, and a converter to DVI there is no problem.

Even further investigation show that it is not any problem with the cable. New tries showed that the PC stopped even when connected via VGA to a projector. I opened the PC and vacuum cleaned the fan. After that the fan works less and I could see films from hard disk and from DVD on different sizes of TV.

Cleaning after three years of operation seems important. To remove the cover to get to the fan it is only two screws. Take off the battery first to be sure that there is no voltage.
