Onboard SATA controller in Lifebook E547 and E736

Postby Traxx » Fri May 12, 2023 18:14

Hello,
i have questions concerning the onboard SATA controller in Lifebook E547 and E736.

In both notebooks there a three entries for possible harddisks and other drives in the BIOS setup
under System -> Drive Configuration (E736) rsp. Advanced -> Drive Configurations (E547):

- Drive 0 -> internal SATA disk in the bottom disk bay
- Drive 1 -> optical drive or second disk via adater in the side bay on the right
- Drive 2 -> a possible third disk?

Where can this third disk be installed? Or is the SATA contoller port multiplier capable?

I plan to install a M2->SATA adapter for two M2 SSD's like this https://www.startech.com/en-us/hdd/s322m225r in the bottom bay to use 2 independant SSD drives (mode JBOD).

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Fujitsu!
We would like to inform that the third disk was intended for an external device.
The internal sata controller is not tested and released as port multiplier.

Best regards,

Hello Fujitsu support,

is the third disk intended for an eSATA disk attached to the optional port replicator?
