S7220 unable to boot

Postby Jujitsu_Simons » Tue Jul 12, 2022 0:46

Replaced the CMOS battery and the laptop won't turn on now. Only getting the ScrollLock icon flashing on the small display, nothing else.

Any recovery tools I can use? does the Bios need resetting?

Hello :D

Thank you for contacting Fujitsu!
Could you please provide the serial number of the affected device?

Hello!
Thank you very much for the information.

In this case, it seems that the motherboard may have crashed while replacing the CMOS battery. Please visit one of our certified service partners who could be able to assist you.

However, please take into account that the affected device Lifebook S7220 has reached EOL (End of Life) many years ago and therefore the maintenance support as well as the spares logistic have been discontinued.

Best regards,

Thanks for your reply

I'm aware that this is a fairly old machine so I don't think I'll reach out to support..
Similar to what I wrote in the other related thread, if this battery wasn't serviceable it should've been soldered on the board instead of the 2 pin connector..

Is there no procedure to write the bios? I have tried downloading the Bios image from Fujitsu Support and burned it on a CD however I can hear the optical unit running but there's nothing on the screen and only getting that ScrollLock icon flashing.
