Not Able To Use Brand New Extra 4GB RAM

Postby Rupert Hackett » Tue Nov 09, 2021 13:38

Hello friends. This is my first post on this forum. I am having Lifebook E449 4GB Model. So, I decided to upgrade it with another 4GB RAM Module. But after upgrading it to a total of 8GB of RAM, this notebook only shows 8.00 GB (5.9 GB usable). Friends, I do not understand why this is happening, and how this problem can be solved. Can anyone help me with this problem? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Rupert,

Thank you for your contact :)

This effect is done because of the shared RAM memory. 8GB of RAM is being automatically distributed over the CPU and the graphics card.

Only if the information about 8GB of RAM is visible in the system - that's good - an indication that the newly installed RAM module is visible and working.

Windows handles the RAM memory distribution automatically and uses the "unavailable" memory to boost your graphical performance.

Sorry for the late reply. Actually, I was also searching to solve the problem simultaneously and came across this article. Windows System Configuration was limiting the maximum memory. I just unchecked the box, and my issue got resolved.
But thank you so much for your cordial reply and helpful elaboration. :D
