E734 black screen at startup after minor changes in BIOS

Postby TertianIvy » Fri Oct 23, 2020 9:55

Hello all,

I got a Lifebook E734 with no covers and a cracked display. After I got a new LCD, I started it up and went to BIOS to check out the options. As I wanted an UEFI installation of Win 10, I enabled Secure Boot and changed the boot order and ever since those changes, I keep getting black screen + a short beep startups. I removed and reinserted the CMOS battery, I disconnected everything and drained the leftover power and still nothing. The only thing to do now is to reflash BIOS. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi TertianIvy

First of all, please connect an external monitor to your notebook and check, if any image will be displayed.

I´m waiting for your feedback. 8)

Already tried that. No output. A chip programmer should arrive this week which will allow me to rewrite BIOS. I'm in search for a dump from a working BIOS.

Hello,

Thank you for the file, but if I get a blank screen that means that I can't see anything and also can't get into BIOS in order to change the boot order. The only way for now is to rewrite the BIOS flash chip. That or buy a new flash chip with preinstalled BIOS and replace it on the motherboard. That's why I asked for the a dump file (*.bin).

Hi again,

this is the information we got:
it seems the lcd was not suitable for this system.
the customer has to ensure the correct display edp or lvds according to the known support bulletin SB-M-15004.

:(

But it worked just fine until I changed the boot order.

Hi again

According to the information in our database, your system´s LCD should be HD + LDVS. As for the .bin file, FTS does not provide such. However, the BIOS Update Utility for your device can be found here:

https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexDow ... 1840BD3AE8

Now the questions that arise are:
• After the LCD was replaced, for how long did the system work without inconvenience?
• Did the system boot more than once? Was an OS installation possible before changing the BIOS settings?
• When ON, which LEDs are on in the system?

Waiting on your feedback.
