Sandisk Extreme (portable)SSD 500gb not recognised

Postby suffolkvagabond » Mon Nov 25, 2019 21:03

Hi, I'm older generation and not very tech savvy. I have a sluggish Lifebook AH530 and was hoping to dejunk it by saving files and programmes to the above SSD, rebooting and then putting back less stuff. Plugged in to USB port and message came up saying drivers not found - tried troubleshooting diagnostic but still no joy.
I thought this SSD operated without drivers so now frustratingly confused. Grateful for any advices

I had a similar-ish problem with a Western Digital SSD in an old desktop. It was usable but WD's own diagnostic software would not find it. If I tried the drive in my laptop all was fine. My conclusion was that WD's software would not run properly under an AMD cpu but an Intel cpu was ok.
