SSD via WWAN port possible on a U747?

Postby ccnp » Mon Dec 11, 2017 10:28

Hello,
I have recently bought a Lifebook U747, and I am thinking about adding a SSD to increase hdd capacity. I want to keep the original hard disk (SSD SATAIII, M.2 256 GB) drive intact in the laptop as it is and just add the SSD to WWAN port.

Please I would like to know if I can plug the ADATA SSD SP600NS34 256GB M.2 SATA 2242 (key B+M) into an unused M.2 slot (key B) for a WWAN card. I want to use the second SSD only for data, I do not need to boot OS over it.

The second disk is now connected to the WWAN slot, but it is not visible in the BIOS

I'm not sure if this second M.2 slot (key B) supports M.2 SSD SATA III or if this option is not blocked in the BIOS.

Thank you for any advice.

Hello ccnp,

this slot is only for an UMTS/LTE module and won't support any other module.

Hello,
Thank you for the information
Is there any other way to add another drive to this notebook?

Other drives can only be connected externally. There is no further possibility to connect a second disk internally.
