I kept getting prompted to download and install the Intel Display Audio Driver by the latest build of DeskUpdate. The driver installed already matches the package download flagged up.
I’d even tried extracting the downloaded file and forcefully installing it anyway via Windows Device Manager to get rid of the notification. It made no difference. I think DeskUpdate cannot tell for whatever reason I already have the correct version installed.
Also, I knew the driver installed correctly and works because I have used HDMI with the TV and the sound is output fine. The install status for the driver was 0x0, the service also returned 0. Both zero values mean successful install.
I sent this information to help desk and they are escalating it to the DeskUpdate Maintainer to see if they can fix the false detection. So if you get the same update prompt, check in Device Manager as you will most likely have the right file installed as well.
My recommendation is this. Always, check what version of any update is being offered to you and ignore the update if you already have the right build installed
