AH531 UPGRADE CPU

Postby venom » Thu Jun 23, 2016 11:54

hello i have a lifebook ah531/gfo with i5-2450m,chipset is HM65.
i want to replace my cpu with an i7
from data sheet my pc is sold with many cpu, the best processor supported is i7-2640m (official data sheet of fujitsu)
but my dream is to install i7-2630QM or i7-2670QM, both quad core not dual.
chipset HM65 works with quad core but my doubt is: bios will work with a quad core?
on the web i saw a few AH531 with i7-2670QM but i have not found AH531/gfo with this cpu.

SOMEONE TRIED TO PUT A QUAD CORE? DID IT WORK? :o
tnx for the reply

Please apologize for my bad english

P.S. the next model NH751 with HM65 was sold with i5-2450m but with i7-2670QM too...
i found this info on official data sheet of NH751 by fujitsu-siemens.

@venom this might be a bit late for you, but may help others still. There is a long thread on upgrading the AH531 (GFO) on the German side of the Fujitsu forum https://forum.ts.fujitsu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=48204. In short:

    – CPU upgrade to i7-2670QM, works, no cooler mod,
    – RAM upgrade to 16 GB, works,
    – HDD upgrade to SSD, works,
    – swapping cooler fan for water cooler, works,
    – WiFi upgrade to Intel 3160, works at both 2 and 5 Ghz, including Bluetooth,
    – swapping DVD writer for a second HDD/SSD, works
    – screen panel swap 1920*1080 to 2560*1600, does't work.

The BIOS in my AH531/GFO is v.1.24, no problems with any of the CPU/RAM/SSD/WiFi mods at all. The AH531 still works like a charm.

Most of the thread is in English, BTW.
