sabrex, many thanks for your input.

I manually installed the latest driver 1.1.0, 16/10/2013 and it appears to have resolved the problem.

I am a bit puzzled why the driver is not called 1.1.1 for example, because the driver it replaces is also called 1.1.0, which is a bit confusing; only the dates are different. Also, I use the Fujitsu automatic updater, but it did not detect the driver update.

Anyhow, thanks again for your help.

Dear Sabrex,

I need your help once again!

I occasionly check for new updates using the automatic fujitsu updater, but I became annoyed by the old wireless switch driver update still appearing, although I had unticked it. I therefore very naiively, thought that if I ran the updater with the wireless switch driver, that the system would reject it as an older driver, but it would remove the nagging driver update from constantly showing.

The update went flawlessly and has dissappeared from the updater, however, the old faulty wireless switch driver has been reinstalled! I therefore went through the previous procedure and manually tried to install the newer version, but try as I might it will not install the newer version. Windows keeps telling me the best driver has already been installed.

I have tried two system restores, but amazingly it still hangs onto the old faulty driver: the 27/06/13 version.

I have definitely downloaded and tried to install the latetst version: FTS_WirelessRadioSwitchDriver_110_1098889.zip, Version: 1.1.0, Date: 16.10.2013.

Any assitance on resolving the above matter would be most gratefully accepted.

Sabrex,

Many thanks for your prompt reply and advice, although I have already tried this method unsuccessfully, several times.

I can't understand why a system retore shouldn't fix the problem?

Both drivers have the same name: 1.1.0.0, with only a date difference. Could windows be seeing them both as the same driver?

When I try to manually update the driver from the device manager and use the browsing method to locate the driver, it says it has encountered a code 10 error, and to contact the manufacturers. Alternatively, if you let it search for the best driver it says it has already installed the best driver.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

try direct driver update from intel the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23493&lang=eng&wapkw=intel+centrino+2230

click 64bit one

you can also look into the folder of the switch driver you downloaded for an .inf file - right click and select install from there.

or just click the setup64.exe in the folder once you have extracted all the files into its own folder. you may have clicked on the 32 one by mistake hence error ...

Dear Sabrex,

Again thanks for your assitance.

Yes definitely 64bit install.

I tried all of the above to no avail.

I installed (I think - small whirling logo, with no further intructions?) the Intel Wireless_16.7.0_De164.exe driver although nothing seems to have changed i.e no 'Wireless Radio Switch' in the System Devices . In passing, I would say that I would appear to have all the Intel Centrino etc drivers already installed. In desperation, I traced the location Wireless Radio Switch driver, fjwrdswd.dll and manually inserted the new driver, but no luck. I have also tried Aministrator uninstall/ install.
Could the problem be in the Registry?

Many thanks.
