AH531 Fuhitsu screen only - F keys not working

Postby Sian » Mon Jul 29, 2013 8:11

My son recons he was on his laptop & the screen went blank.

There's still a light but nothing on the screen.

I restarted it but only get the Fujitsu main screen & it goes no further.

I tried restart & F10 it only comes up with boot menu but will not progress to anything else. Even esc from there doesn't work.

I tried F8, this came up with A disk read error, please press cntrl+alt+del but it just goes back to the same message.

I've done the basic static drain & running it with cable & no battery but a bit stumped as to what it could be.

It's running on Windows 7

Thanks for any suggestion in advance.

Possibly indicating a hard disk failure - A disk read error occured message is where it tried to go from your hard disk and didnt like it. options -
run the FREE Fujitsu DIFS checker from here http://tinyurl.com/ftsdiags
try attaching the hdd to another computer via a usb adapter to see if you can read data. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neewer-SATA-Dri ... sb+adapter

Yes, it was a hard drive failure and even though the laptop was under 2 years old & a Seagate hard drive I was offered no help by Fujitsu.

Not very good PR IMO.
