AH530 Crashing

Postby Pelluci » Wed Dec 12, 2012 14:05

Hi,

I recently bought an AH530 for my daughter (for Christmas) but it has been crashing randomly (it can crash on startup one day, and last for hours another). Also, I've never seen any screen go like this when it crashes (See image).

I've switched RAM with another laptop with no change (still crashed while other on didn't), I've reinstalled Windows, but short of buying a new processer or hard drive, I'm not sure what else I can check.

Another thing is, this was bought as Used Goods, so I could return it, but I won't find another at that price! I've checked the serial number and the warranty on it is up to 31st March 2013. Could I get this repaired under warranty, even though I'm not the original buyer?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Warranty desk should be able to transfer the warranty.

My 8 month old AH531 has started to do this same, occurred 3 times total now. Once idle overnight, second playing a flash game and latest playing planetside 2. Looks like a graphics card crash/hangup.

EDIT: 4 times now total hangup.

Just to update: Rang the warranty number, they ascertained fairly quickly that it wasn't going to fixed over the phone, sent courier to take it away, replaced motherboard and arrived back today (12 days gone in total) and no crashes yet (fingers crossed!).

So, seeing as your AH531 is still in the 1 year warranty, I'd get onto them and get them to replace the motherboard (if it is the same problem).

Yeah, did the same. And my laptop arrived today, with replaced motherboard. Did some research involving the Intel 6 series chipset and found this:

And seems that i have this same chipset in my laptop. Wonder why they havent told us about this at their solution site :?:

Well, i don't want to argue but seems that you didn't read that article thoroughly. Sorry to OP about hijacking your thread

Desktop systems using the Intel® H67 and P67 Express Chipsets and mobile systems using the Intel® HM67 and HM65 may be affected by this issue. Intel recommends that end users contact their place of purchase or system manufacturer for more information.

Are the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors affected?
This issue does not impact 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors

AH531 has a 2nd generation intel
AH530 has a Intel Mobile 5 series Chipset

I hope this clarifies things. Good to hear you both have things rectified.
This intel link is irrelevent to the products in this post as first advised.(offtopic)
