AH550 Brightness Controls not working

Postby Jakobud » Sat Oct 27, 2012 22:38

My friend has a Lifebook AH550 running Windows 7 Home 64 bit. I recently cleaned up her computer, removing a bunch of spy ware and bloat that had gotten installed over time.

Later I noticed that the Brightness Controls on the keyboard were no longer working. When you Press Fn + F6/F7, the brightness settings would be displayed on the screen but the green bar would not go up or down and the brightness of the screen didn't change at all. I found the Lifebook AH550 software page (http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Portal/supportsearch.do) and reinstalled several items including the Hotkey utility and the Intel Video Driver (the lifebook uses an Intel integrated video card, not the ATI/AMD card).

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this problem? Is there a certain driver that I need to absolutely make sure I install to fix this problem?

FYI I also have installed ALL Windows 7 updates.

Can anyone offer any advice on this? Surely there is just some Fujitsu software I need to install to make this work properly?

Did you install the Fujitsu System Extension Utility?

I'm not sure if that is installed or not. I will check next time I am on the laptop. What does that software do exactly?

Hi there,
my laptop is Lifebook AH532 with Windows 7 / 64bit. I have issues with adjustment of brightness after an update of some Battery Charging Control Update via BIOS a few days ago (most probably this: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/about/res ... 31-01.html was the cause because it started after this update as far as I remember correctly...). The brightness is either completely dimmed or fully bright, I noticed that after a try of reinstallation the graphic driver it´s dimmed, but after a restart (e.g. turning on the laptop next day) it goes fully bright. Even restoration of the system to a certain state before the date of this update didn´t help. It doesn´t work via control panel nor via hotkeys with "Fn" button.

Any idea how to make it function?

Thanks

EDIT (20/12/2018): It seems that BIOS version 1.10 caused the issue. After installing version 1.08 brightness adjustment works again.

Thanks I'm fixing a similar model, I thought updating to v1.10 will be an improve but it didn't.
