"Back cover display" for Fujitsu Lifebook A514

Postby gruis28 » Wed Feb 24, 2021 16:59

I have been using my a514 lifebook for 5 years without problems, but opening and closing the display caused the plastic cover breakage the point of the hinges.
This causes the notebook to become unusable.
I searched all the spare parts sites for the back cover, but nothing, it is no longer available and out of production.
Is there anyone who knows where it can still be found?
Notebook Model: Lifebook a514
The part number should be: FUJ:CP683815-XX
Waiting for your info
Best regards

Hello and thank you for your contact.

The end of service and support life of Lifebook A514 ended on 31.07.2019. I confirm with Spares Department that we don't have any spare parts for this system in stock.

I suggest to search on the second-hand market (the used one) for that cover:
Here are the details about the correct spare parts for Lifebook A514:

Material number: 34046741
Part number: FUJ:CP683815-XX
Description: LCD BACK COVER ASSY

If required, you may also consider replacement of hinges:

Material number: 38037459
Part number: FUJ:CP651754-XX
Description: HINGE SET LEFT/RIGHT

Note: one of the features of the system is a delicate top cover that can be easily broken when mishandle.
Back in time, the intensive test and analysis showed that massive mishandling would cause such damages. We found out that the damages occur because the maximum opening angle has been exceeded by the customer and this forced broken housing or broken panel.
The hinges have a natural halt point and a maximum LCD opening angle which is limited by mechanical design. This halt point can easily be detected by the customer while opening the LCD. If the customer would stop at this halt point, there should not be any damage at all.

So let me kindly inform you and ask to open LCD carefully and stop and don’t push as soon as the natural halt point is reached.

This is the feedback we received from the support team. Thank you!

Thanks to Ask Fujitsu- Forum Team for paying attention to the problem and confirming that the spare part is no longer available.

I have already searched various used spare parts sites such as ebay, but I could not find anything.

If any forum user has an a514 lifebook that no longer works and wants to sell the "LCD BACK COVER ASSY" they can contact me.

If someone browsing on used spare parts sites finds the "LCD BACK COVER ASSY" can write me the link.

Thank you all
Best regards

Have you tried to contact these russian dudes? Maybe they could help. Although i don't know how much it would cost to send to your country and if their price is acceptable for you (5500 rub/ ~62 eur).

Thanks @keturidu for the suggestion, the site is in Russian and it is not clear if it is actually available, if they ship to Italy and at what costs.
I try to write them in English at the address in the contacts: parts74ru@gmail.com.
Thank you

I found it on this site:

https://fujitsuprospares.com/en/lifeboo ... 90123.html

I ask @Ask Fujitsu Team
the site is a Fujitsu official site?
The product refers to the Lifebook A537 notebook
Material number: 34052531
Part number: FUJ:CP718286-XX

It looks the same, but is it compatible with my Lifebook A514 notebook?

Waiting for your info
Best regards

Hi gruis28

fujitsuspare.com is a site of fujitsuspare company - not a Fujitsu.
We personally don't have any experience with this site and can't confirm nor advise against its legitimacy. We simply don't know anything about them.

Regarding the PN: 34052531 was used in A537, A358 and A557. It is different from previously advised 34046741 and will not fit Lifebook A514.

Spare you need to look for is:
Material number: 34046741
Part number: FUJ:CP683815-XX
Description: LCD BACK COVER ASSY

Thanks again @Ask Fujitsu for the accurate information you provided me.

I also wrote to the Russian site suggested by @keturidu, but got no response and still couldn't find it used on any site.

If anyone finds something and reports it to me I would be grateful
Thanks
