[v5535] Turns off suddenly, without warning..

Postby Dave400 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 10:35

Hi

Hopeing someone can help with my laptop, it's started acting up recently and in the process it's killed my hard drive (unrecoverable read errors, confirmed by the wd diag app.)

However, I need to work out why the laptop is suddenly powering off either having run for a couple of hours, or repeatedly just after POST.

I've run the Fujitsu diags app and got the following DIFS code (with a spare known good hard drive installed)

75WK-YAZZ-68SGW

Serial number is: YKDA121243

What is the DIFS code flagging up?

Thanks in advance

Dave

difs is suggesting your hard drive is fail
When the hard drive starts to go it may blue screen , sudden reboots of your machine which can be completely random, complete freezing within windows. Basicaly a hdd can go down at any point from day 1 (unless its a solid state drive) you need to replace your hard drive. (you could replace with a solid state ie samsung 830 or 840)

Hi

The hard drive currently installed is fine, passes seatools diags,

The laptop will also display the same error code and does the same strange power down issue if the hard drive isn't even installed.

Anything else the code could be pointing towards?

it relates to hard drive I suppose the only other thing it could be is your controller on the motherboard.
does your unit turn off completely or restart ?

Unit turns off completely, as it does it with the hard drive removed then it's destined for the bin right?

you likely have an overheat when this happens dont know why difs is seeing hdd failure.
Try cleaning the cpu area of thermal paste and applying a spot of new thermal paste - make sure fans are clear while your at it.

Will the diags app store previous DIFS codes within the bios or otherwise in order to compare changed inventory? maybe it's not cleared itself after the original failure?

One of the first things I did was to check the heatsink and fan was clear, new thermal paste is always best practice when removing a heatsink..

I am looking for another processor just in case it's a cpu issue.

Well, with no optical or hard drive installed and booting from usb stick it's turning off without warning still..

If anyone wants spares get in touch, this machine is being stripped for usable parts...
