Hello,
I have a problem with my Fujitsu Esprimo Mobile V5535-12, Serial No’ YKDA680142, the problem and my repair attempts are described in 3 following steps:
Step 1
The original Fujitsu 160GB Hard Disk failed. Its failure had been verified and confirmed by checking the disk in another PC.
Step 2
A brand new Western Digital 320GB SATA had been purchased and installed in the Esprimo Mobile.
It didn’t work well, a lot of start-up problems. Running the Fujitsu dedicated Diagnostic Tool downloaded from Fujitsu website came out with DIFS Code 75WK-YAMZ-00SEW, which had been identified as a Hard Disk failure by this forum and by Technical Support as well.
All that’s despite the fact that this WD 320GB disk had been extensively checked under its warranty and no failure found, and now it works well in another PC (Lenovo).
Step 3
So I addressed the problem to possible compatibility issue, and replaced the Hard Disk by another one – Toshiba 500GB SATA.
Now the Fujitsu Diagnostic Tool indicates “No Problems Found”, both quick test and full test, all are clean.
The original Vista OS and original drivers had been loaded and the beginning was good. During Vista installation and HDD formatting the PC recognizes the full disc capacity - about 497GB.
But the PC started slowly-slowly to corrupt the system files and collect these corruptions. Hang-ups began, after a few days - error messages, and after 2 weeks the system doesn’t start-up at all - it goes to "Safe Mode" selection screen and selecting any mode falls out to start-up or hangs-up.
The Fujitsu Diagnostic Tool still runs clean and finds no errors.
The BIOS had been updated to a last version, V1.13, but it didn’t help.
1) Is there any problem to use Hard Disks of such large capacity as 500GB and 320GB in Esprimo Mobile? I see other folks with HDD capacity problems also on this forum.
2) Any BIOS settings can help? There are a lot of options.
3) Any advice what to do now?
