ESPIRMO / REALTEK fails to PXE Boot

Postby StatoLNL » Fri Nov 11, 2011 17:01

Hi, We have a number of ESPRIMO Mobile V6535 laptops. We are deploying our operating systems builds via a Windows Deployment Server (WDS) that obtains its images via PXE boot via the network.

Unfortunately all of the models we have fail when boot from the network. This laptop uses the RealTek RTL8111B/8168B v2.05 as a NIC. When boot it shows that PXE is loaded v2.1, it shows the client MAC and GUID, after 10 seconds or soerror PXE-E51 it then exits.

The issue is that it fails to pickup any IP via DHCP is there any assistance that can be offered regarding this issue please. WDS is working as we have other brands of hardware including HP, ACER, SAMSUNG and DELL that all work as desired.

Regards Glenn

Issue was resolved :D

It turned out that although other devices worked ok, we had a faulty switch that didnt like the Fujitsu\Realtek NIC but only during the PXE boot process. We rebooted the switch (Netgear ProSafe GS108T) and all was well again.

Very odd but true.
