I think he means the Mobile Broadband wizard/assistant. It should appear when you click "Add" in the Mobile broadband section in Connections. It has been around for about a year.
(My info may be out of date, as I use KDE by default.)

Yes, that's right. I mean the Mobile Broadband Assistant. Sorry for my bad English.

just out of curiosity, what's your MTU setting on the modem connection?

It's 1430.

I recently lowered it from 1500 to 1430. This I did because my transfer speed was extremely poor when receiving and sending files to my NAS-server using the mobile broadband. During the time my MTU was set to 1500 I didn't experience any low speed when browsing the Internet. Only when contacting the NAS-server.

in case this may help others, i found a partial solution to my problem: xp virtualization - partial because 1. internet is very slow (avg ping is from ~600 ms to timeout, reminiscent of old phone modems...), 2. the gtconnect app only works from the xp desktop, not as an xp app from the win7 desktop, and 3. there is interference with pc cam drivers (a known problem - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... rt/threads ), but this can be tweaked by playing with the attach/release buttons...
so long...
