[V6535] POST error after BIOS update

Postby Black Dog » Wed Oct 07, 2009 11:14

Subj - does anyone have such an experience (actually, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of such a lucky ones %)?

Well, the story is: I have V6535 with original BIOS version 1.18, and I've found BIOS v.1.22 at V6535 downloads page. Actually my reason to update was a wild guess that it would be possible to turn off Quiet Boot (or how it should be called on Fujitsu Siemens - I hate to see vendor logo instead of POST information) at this version, but anyways.

So I've downloaded v.1.22 WFlash version, closed all running applications as I was told (LOL) and ran it. Everything goes ok to the end, after update finished I've got a long beeeeep and system goes to reboot.

After that system doesn't boot - I press power button, HDD starts, HDD and Power LEDs light but the screen is black and POST error beep goes after a while - one long and two short ones.

So all this pretty much looks like a dead BIOS after reflash and I have to familiarize myself with Crisis Recovery procedure (hello, Phoenix BIOS). So I've wrote all this just in case someone gives me any other idea before I'd start it ;)

Same problem here with V6535. I noticed that when extracting the .iso image some files are corrupt (0kb in size), which could result in our bad BIOS flashing (I guess). And besides that, on the download page we can't find the initial BIOS version (which in my case is v1.60) for my Esprimo V6535. Isn't that stupid...

I read some discutions about BIOS recovery and, because our BIOS is made by Phoenix, we need to use phlas16.exe, autoexec.bat (in which we must se the parameters to load the .wph file) and, of course, the BIOS binary file (blabla.wph).

To start reflashing the BIOS we also need an external Floppy Disk Drive (USB).
More tips at: http://www.theeldergeek.com/forum/index ... opic=21209

Please give us a sign if someone finds the way to recover our machines. :|

(and please excuse my bad english)

Hello all together,
I had the same problem. Here I found the solution: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpo ... ostcount=1. With the help of CRISDISK I created a bootable drive, which has restored the Bios.
Yours sincerely

Hi,
sorry for my bad english...but i'll try it.
I had the same problem and solved it, also at the prior link and mydigitallife.
The Bios of the v6535 is 2MB big, so it doesn't fit on a Dos Disk.
So I get a solution with a USB Drive (Stick).
For me the right version of wincrisis.exe was essentially.
On my FSC v6535 wincrisis.exe 1.0.0.4 from 24.09.2008 worked fine with the following instruction help:
_______________________
Fujitsu Esprimo Mobile V6535 - BIOS RECOVERY

1.)Use a usb stick and do a format as FAT from windows.
(I use 256gb stick) FAT16 was important!

2.)Run WINCRIS.EXE select your formated usb stick
Click the "Start" button wait and a message come and say to "Remove your stick and reconect"
So remove the stick click "OK" to the window
(do not close the WINCRIS.EXE and dont click anything else) and reconect.
Afer choose "YES" in the windows say "Do you whant to format onother crisis disk?"
and click again the "Start" button.
(This is to make sure we update the CRISBOOT.BIN in usb boot sector. For me works like that.)
(If WINCRIS.EXE doesnt run and give an error try to run it in compatibility mod)

3.)Remove your stick and reconect.

Thats it.

Boot with your new created Boot Stick eith these steps:

Unplug the Battery.
Unplug the AC Adapter
Hold keys Fn + F
Plug the AC Adapter
Power on.

An now the Notebook read the prepared USB Stick

Thats all steps i do to recovery my bad bios flash to my V6535 FSC!

Bios.wph include in the zip is for V6535 Bios Version 1.20.

Exactly, and that was one of many other surprises I've got from Fujitsu-Siemens for these weeks - right before I knew about that I've bought USB Floppy Drive just on purpose to reflash that damn thing... So god-awful F-S owes me $20 more %)

But after all, I've finally got D45V122.WPH (2.109.791 bites) from CD image, and now starts part 2 of our issue %)

t> For me the right version of wincrisis.exe was essentially

There did you get it? The one I have is 1.0.0.2 from here. And it looks like it doesn't work properly with USB drives - can you please give here a link on v.1.0.0.4 or send it to me by e-mail?

t> with the following instruction help:

Thanks for that, but it looks like I have no chance to use your instructions w/o proper wincrisis.exe :(

And one more question:

t> Hold keys Fn + F

How did you know what "Fn"+"F" put V6535 into boot-block mode? I mean have you got any signs of boot-block mode like this (taken from here):

* The CPU fan turns at a higher speed than usual, making more noise.
* The power LED lights up, possibly in a different color than usual.
* Caps Lock and Num lock LEDs light up, even though the keyboard itself does not function.
* The hard drive does not spin up.
* Other than that, the system will appear to be dead.

Because after I put a power plug in and hit Power button both holding "Fn"+"F" (accu is unplugged as well as HDD, optical drive is empty), damn thing just "appears to be dead" %)

Well, the same question here, though on some forums dedicated to the same problem I've found some mentioning that there is no need in any key stokes - with appropriate boot device everything happened by itself in some mysterious way... %)

g> i need bios file for v6535!

Well, everyone needs it, but you are a lucky guy - you can get it here.
