[V5535] CPU upgrade T9500 etc

Postby MaartenS » Tue Apr 07, 2009 11:59

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my v5535. Now according to the data sheet the max cpu support is the T7300. Only this data sheet already dates back to March 2008. Since then a couple of new CPU's have come out that are similair. Such as the T7500, T7700, t7800, T8100, T8300 and more notably the T9300 and T9500. They all are from the Intel Core2 Duo Mobile family (just as the T7300), they all have a fsb of 800mhz, and are of course socket P. Only differences are the speed (Mhz) but also the Level 2 Cache. But I don't see how they should hinder the use of these CPU's in the V5535. (note even the T5850 which is mentioned on the data sheet is faster in Mhz (2166) then the T7300 (2000) so at the very least I would say that the T8100 (which even has 1mb less Cache level 2) should be supported.)

Has any one tried any of these new CPU's?
Do you think that these might/should work?

PS. maybe even the X7800, X7900 and the X9000 could work. They are from a different family (Intel Core 2 Extreme Mobile) but again they are socket P, and have a FSB of 800 mhz. If that were possible you could have a really fast Notebook with the X9000 build in!

Hi guys,

I would like to thank all the many people who replied to this post to help other out!
Especially the great support from the magnificent Fujitsu!

What a joke.

But for the people who are interested, a T9500 works great on a v5535. Got it running now, a total of 2 cores each running at 2600mhz!

May I ask where you got your processor from and was it difficult to upgrade?
I'm looking into it myself

Thanks! :D

When you upgraded the CPU you upgraded the psu as well or you left the original one?

Thanks for you info MaartenS!
It seems that the BIOS is capable to support more modern CPU's
I just upgraded with a T7500 (2,2 GHz) it runs fine! (BIOS 1.13)
I think it is not neccesary to upgrade the PSU because the power consumption is about the same (35W)
It is very easy to change the CPU, the hardest work is to clean the cooler, it seems that FS uses concrete for cooling paste!

Yeah my cooling paste was like a rock:)
Guys, please post your CPU temp under low and high load. Also how much performance difference have you got with new CPU?

Hi.

About a month ago I replaced my mother's Fujitsu Esprimo V5535 cpu with a Core 2 Duo T6400. I've upgraded the bios to the last version, 1.13. It's been working well.
My oncle has the same laptop and I did the same upgrade to the bios and upgraded the cpu to a Core 2 Duo T9550 this Christmas. It's functioning perfectly.

Well, my oncle's laptop isn't as stable as one would like it to be. I think the problem lies in the max FSB supported by the chipset, 800 MHz as it was said. T9550 is 1066 MHz FSB.
