Notebook does not start-up - display stays completely black

Postby metzi » Mon Oct 27, 2008 21:54

By the Way: Dies ist englischsprachigen Forum, Ich habe Google zu übersetzen ... :o

Sorry, i thought i opened this threat in the German forum.

I did not completely understand your translation. I s it possible to post it once again in English?

Here is once again the problem description in English:
After switching on the notebook the Power LED is lightning, but the display remains completely black.
The LED of the hard disk / CD drive flashes shortly an then remains also black. The hard disk is running mechanically (it is possible to hear the sound of the running hard disk)
I have the tryed to start the computer with a bootable CD, but unfortunately the result was the same. The CD was detected by the CD drive (LED is flashing and the disc is turning a several time) but the the CD drive stops and the behaviour is the same as described with the startup with the hard disk.
I have tryed to start the notebook either with battery and with the computer connected to power.

I hope this translation hels for the english forum :)

Hope it solves the problem... :)
Couse if it doesnt, it means that eather the BIOS got corupted or there is some hardware malfunction.

Unfortunately the CMOS reset did not solve the problem :(

Any other ideas? Would a new motherboard solve the problem?

You can try the BIOS recovery procedures:

If it doesnt works than it is in your best interest to take it to FSC repair center.

usually if system hangs at bios you'll get no activity, but you should still get a display.

have you tried using an external monitor to see if its the screen?
