[V5535] Fn Keys?

Postby faraz_k86 » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:31

What function does the Fn+F7 key and Fn+F10 and Fn+F12 key perform.

The Fn+F7 key has a video camera on it??

the F10 key is to change the monitor if you have a vga cable connected and the F12 is for stanby or hiberante

I had the same problem with the standby.

the laptop would not come back on after standby.

to fix this you need to update your bios. go to their homepage and download the windows bios flash, the latest version. this will fix your problem

You just press the power button and it comes back to life (resuming the session). :?

I can confirm that on my v5545 Fn+F7 disables or enables the webcam. If your model does not come with a webcam I would assume the button combination would have no function.

I also have issues with returning from Standby/Hibernation. The power button, any combinations of keys, mouse clicks or removing the AC power have any effect.

I have found the only solution to be to hold the power button in for 10 seconds to power off the machine then reboot. Of course this does not shut the laptop down and unsaved data is lost. I then disable the laptop from automatically entering Standby or Hibernation.

I have updated my BIOS to the latest version available R01-A1A. I have also run FSC Desk Update which does not return any update results (whether it actually works, I am not sure?).

Does anyone know any better solutions to the standby/hibernation issue? prinCipeSSa did updating the BIOS work for you?

Cheers,
- D

When my V5535 goes into standby I generally have to hold the power button for just over a second which makes it go into sleep mode. Pressing it again brings it back to life. No idea why it does it but no big deal. :D
