amilo pro v2055 black screen :?:

Hi everyone,
when I turn my laptop on all I get is a black screen.It also makes a singlebeep sound followed by two shorter beeps.Someone suggested it may be a broken video card.If this is the case can it be fixed without losing all my data, or is it time for a new laptop?
any advice is greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me more like faulty RAM. Take the RAM out of the notebook, check if there's any dust in the RAM slot, clean the contacts on the RAM with a piece of paper (paper is like very very fine sandpaper). Then reinsert the RAM in the notebook and try if that works.
