V3505 - chkdsk, defrag etc problems

I wonder if anyone can help

I have an Amilo Pro V3505 running XP Pro with latest updates

1. Disk defragmenter will only run for a short time and then stops - machine freezes
2. Chkdsk always stops in 4th pass
3. WD DLGDIAG QuckTest did not complete
Status code = 07
Failure checkpoint = 65
4. WD DLGDIAG Extended test did not complete
stops approx half way
5. Some spyware programs also freeze partway

Question 1. I guess there is soem sort of problem with the hard drive... does it indicate likely failure or can something be done?

Question 2. I have lost my restore discs - can anyone help with a copy?

Try chkdsk & defrag from safe mode.

Could be your disk is on its way out. Backup now.

You could try creating an image of the drive. That way, if you have to replace the drive, you would have a working copy.
Use anti virus, backup your data, use google.
POST BACK EVEN IF THE HELP DOESN'T HELP.

don't use windows products, I use iobit software it is much better and faster. also you may not have enough space on your harddrive approx 15% unless you have some massive files which need more
